IN GRANTCHESTER, IN GRANTCHESTER…
… we took a (fairly) well-deserved break… and ate these babies!
We had, after all cycled a WHOLE 3 miles from Cambridge, past sweet terraced cottages, wide wide playing fields and along the glorious bridlepath through Grantchester Meadows to the lovely Orchard Tea Garden for Beg Bicycles’ first ever Joy Ride. We had unashamedly said the pace would be genteel, and genteel it was. We had also said it was going to be fun, would take in some breath-taking scenery and above all would involve good company, and it certainly did… including a fine herd of cattle languishing across the path.
Huge thanks to Tony, Nikki, Bea, Malcolm and of course Esther for a great first ride... it was a real pleasure to meet you, and a big well done to Esther for not only organising Joy Rides, but also for giving a BBC Radio interview beforehand and then hurtling across Cambridge to start the ride.
And WELCOME to everyone else who has contacted us since. We've received an incredible response from the press and public, and we're really looking forward to meeting many more of you for our next ride in September (the date and route are VERY close to being finalised but suffice to say, the prerequisite cafe or tea shop stop-off is central to the planning). We're going to put up all the details here each month under JOY RIDES, but if you'd like any more information in the meantime, please do contact us on hello@begbicycles.com or telephone 01223 655222.
